Since practice makes better, leaving the Beetle behind I thought that the 911 STR would be a suitable candidate for another go at digital rendering. For this one, I started off in much the same way, using illustrator to generate a rough outline before exporting the paths for Photoshop. You can see that I got so far into PS before thinking that there must be a better way of going about this. Checking out CRWPitman’s work on deviant art pushed me towards trying to get a 100% vector based render. So, back to AI I went and before long, I’m now sitting on a much more comprehensive vector drawing that I plan on using a combination of live paint and gradient overlays to arrive at a similar result.
Here’s hoping.

We’ll put at tip on once we mount the bumper, and now I can finally install a bumper!
The smoke is a combination of solvent and fuel. With the new exhaust it’s running a little rich. I’ll rejet the carbs next week.
